Building a Gallery Wall That Looks Intentional, Not Random

Your bedroom lighting affects how well you sleep and how you feel when you wake up. Harsh overhead lights at night signal your brain to stay alert; warm, dim lighting tells it to wind down.
Layer 1: Ambient lighting
Start with a warm, dimmable light source. A smart table lamp or LED strip behind your headboard provides soft illumination. Set it to 2700K and dim to 30-40% in the evening.
Layer 2: Task lighting
A bedside lamp with adjustable brightness handles reading. Position it so the light falls on your book, not your face.
Layer 3: Accent lighting
Star projectors, fairy lights, and salt lamps add personality without adding brightness. A Himalayan salt lamp gives a warm, steady glow.
Morning lighting
A sunrise alarm clock simulates a gradual dawn, increasing light over 20-30 minutes before your wake time. It's gentler than a sudden alarm.
Blue light at night
Avoid cool white light (5000K+) after sunset. Choose amber or warm red tones for nightlights - they have minimal impact on melatonin production.
